Helping you live a vegan life, inside and out
In style & self-care we dive into the world of fashion, beauty, health & fitness, natural living and wellness. This is actually a pretty exciting area in which to dive into all the vegan options out there, because there are a lot and they are growing fast! From experience, it seems that after people adjust their diet, they then start looking at what they consume in other ways from a personal perspective. Typical items under the microscope include:
- leather belts, bags and shoes
- down jackets, duvets and pillows
- wool and cashmere jumpers
- makeup and nail polish
- skincare
- hair products and dyes
- spa lotions and potions.
What do you mean there’s animal fat in my lipstick?
Animal ingredients (so, basically bits of animals) find their way into things you wouldn’t believe, and in ways that are truly astounding. I bet you will find yourself at some point inwardly, or outwardly!, shouting, “but why did they do that, and how on earth did they think of that in the first place?!” Trust me, I’ve been a vegan since 2012 and I still find myself being surprised!
Many people turn to veganism believing it to be a shortcut to a healthy, slim figure. Whilst it is true that balanced, nutritionally packed vegan diets are wonderful for you, bear in mind that if you are living on chips, curry and processed foods, whilst they might be vegan, you are unlikely to see the results you are hoping for! Look after yourself in a holistic way with our fitness, health and wellbeing articles.

Sooooo I have a small confession to make. For my recent post, “Why I’m No Nonsense on Non-Vegan Clothes”, I discovered exciting new fabrics now emerging to replace those that traditionally used animals, in particular, cow leather. The faux leather we’re currently used to causes toxic effects in production. Thankfully, in light of these environmental…

I write about why I avoid leather, wool, suede, cashmere and all other animal derived textiles at “What Vegans Don’t Wear”. Be sure to check it out if you haven’t already. This post is about why I have unwavering commitment to vegan friendly fashion, beyond what goes on in factories and slaughterhouses. We all didn’t…

Well obviously vegans wear clothes, shoes and accessories like any other person! Buuuut, the choices vegans make are heavily influenced by concerns about how animals have been used, harmed or killed to make them. Thanks to Peta’s “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign that began in 1991, fur shed it’s luxurious, aspirational tag,…
